Baseball

Baseball in Barcelona was originally only played as training and friendlies, until “The Catalan Federation of Baseball” was constituted on 27th April 1929. It was formed at a dinner held at ten o'clock at night in Barcelona at the restaurant "Les 7 Portes" based in Santa Ana Street núm.21, Low. Its first president was Agustin Perez de Vargas.

A total of 120 people including the presidents and managers of the clubs attended the foundation and 23 teams were registered when The Catalan Federation of Baseball was formed.

The Board of the Catalan Federation was first formed by Sr.Agustí Perez de Vargas (the President), Pallet Sr.Germán Torrents (Vice President), Sr.Josep Brand Brand (Secretary), Escudero Sr.Carlos Carmasa (Treasurer) and Mr. Isidro Corbins Fontaqua (Officer of The Sports Confederation of Catalonia) with the members Antoni Cortés Fiers, Sr.Mel Ratera Village and Sr.Leandro Gomez Rubio.

In the first championship the following twelve teams participated in the first category: Catalan - first-team champion, Barcino, America, Monserrato, Electric, Hill, Mexico Galvany, Kiew , lanterns,Barcelona and Catalonia.

Currently, there are a total of 30 teams divided into six competitions:
Alevín (5 to 11 years),Youth (12 to 13 years), Junior (14 to 15 years), teens (16 to 18 years), Senior Division 1 Catalan and Honorary Senior Division State Catalan.

Joan Goals is the current president of The Catalan Federation of Baseball. The women's softball began in 1975 with a total of 4 teams: Blue - first-team champions, The Courts, Gava, Barcelona and Blue.

Presently, there are a total of 14 teams that are divided into 4 categories: Mini (5 to 13 years), Rookies (11 to 15 years), Open (14 to 19 years), Senior Division and National Honor Catalan.
